Professional and Ethical Standards

Sunreach Counselling is committed to providing safe, ethical and professional counselling services..

As a non-registered health practitioner providing counselling services in NSW, Sunreach Counselling operates in accordance with applicable NSW legislation and the relevant NSW Code of Conduct for Non-Registered Health Practitioners.

I am also a member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and am bound by the ACA Code of Ethics and Practice, which establishes professional and ethical standards for counselling practice.

These standards include requirements relating to professional competence, working within scope of practice, informed choice, professional boundaries, confidentiality and privacy, appropriate record keeping, professional conduct, referrals and providing truthful information about qualifications, training and services.

Client Rights

As a client of Sunreach Counselling you have the right to:

- Be treated with dignity, respect and without discrimination.

- Receive services that are safe, ethical and within my training, qualifications and scope of practice.

- Make informed choices about your counselling and care.

- Have your personal and health information kept confidential, subject to applicable legal and safety obligations.

- Be informed about my qualifications, training, professional experience and professional affiliations.

- Ask questions about your counselling, treatment options and the approaches used.

- Seek another professional opinion or request a referral where appropriate.

- Raise concerns or make a complaint about the service you receive.

- Withdraw from counselling or discontinue services at any time, subject to any agreed arrangements.
